Family therapy in Gainesville, FL

Support for parents, teens, blended families, and adult siblings who need a neutral room and a steady guide.

Every voice at the table

When the whole household hurts, working on it together usually goes further than working on it alone. Family therapy looks at how a family works as a system: who talks, who goes quiet, what gets repeated, and what everyone is protecting.

We work from Family Systems theory alongside person-centered and humanistic approaches. The therapist’s job is to make the room safe enough that everyone, including the teenager who did not want to come, gets heard.

When families reach out

  • A teen who is struggling and the parents who do not know how to help
  • Blended families finding their footing
  • Conflict that has hardened into distance
  • Grief, illness, or a move that has changed the family
  • Adult siblings and aging parents
  • Rebuilding after trauma inside or outside the home

How it works

First sessions are 90 minutes and usually include everyone who will be part of the work. Your therapist may then meet with parts of the family separately, then bring everyone back together. Goals are set as a family, and each person keeps their own voice.

Questions people ask

Does everyone have to come?

Not always. Some sessions are the whole family, some are a parent and a teen, some are one person. Your therapist plans that with you.

How young can a child be?

We see teens 14 and up. For younger children, ask the front desk and we will point you to a good referral.

Ready to talk, or still deciding?

Call or email the front desk. A real person replies, answers your questions, and helps you find the right therapist. A free 15-minute phone consult is available on request.
