Grief counseling in Gainesville, FL
Room to grieve without a timeline. For bereavement, anticipatory loss, and the losses no one else names.
With a certified grief counselor
Our founder, Wendy Gibbs, is a Certified Grief Counselor. Grief counseling at LiveWell is a place to say the things you cannot say to the people around you: the anger, the relief, the guilt, the way the world kept going. Nobody here will tell you it is time to move on.
The losses people bring
- The death of a parent, partner, child, sibling, or friend
- Anticipatory grief while someone you love is dying
- Miscarriage and pregnancy loss
- Divorce, estrangement, and the end of a family as you knew it
- Loss of health, work, home, or faith
- Grief that got complicated, stuck, or came back years later
How it works
Sessions are one-on-one, 60 minutes after a 90-minute first visit. Some people come for a few weeks around an anniversary. Some come for longer. There is no schedule you are supposed to keep to, and no version of grief that is wrong.
Questions people ask
It has been years. Is it too late?
No. Grief does not expire. Many people come in long after a loss, when something new brings it back up. That is a normal time to start.
Is grief counseling different from regular therapy?
It is therapy with a particular focus. A certified grief counselor is trained in how loss works, what complicates it, and how to help without rushing you toward being “over it.”
