Trauma and PTSD therapy in Gainesville, FL
Specialized care for complex trauma, first responders, veterans and military families, and survivors of every kind.
Trauma-informed, at your pace
Trauma is not only what happened. It is what stayed. A memory that never got filed away, a body that still braces, a belief about yourself that formed in the worst moment and never got corrected. Trauma therapy helps the brain and body finish what they could not finish at the time.
Our clinicians have deep experience with complex trauma: childhood neglect and abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, dissociation, religious trauma and spiritual abuse, combat, and the kind of prolonged interpersonal trauma that does not fit one event.
How we work
- Safety first. Before any processing, you and your therapist build grounding skills and a plan for what to do when things get intense.
- Processing, when you are ready. Using EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or talk therapy, depending on what fits you.
- Integration. Putting the pieces back into a life that is yours again.
Who we work with
- Survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse
- Veterans, active military families, and first responders
- Teens and adults with complex or developmental trauma
- People with PTSD after an accident, assault, or sudden loss
Trauma support group
A small, closed group for adult women who have lived through trauma, offering support and resiliency training in a non-judgmental space. The group is ongoing and closes once it reaches capacity, then a new group forms as space opens. Questions people ask
Do I have to talk about what happened?
Not until you are ready, and never in more detail than you choose. Trauma therapy starts with safety and stability. Processing comes later, at your pace.
Do you work with veterans and first responders?
Yes. Our founder is trained in trauma-response care and has worked with U.S. military veterans, their families, and veteran care-giver organizations. We proudly support veterans and their families; ask us about coverage.
Is EMDR part of trauma therapy?
It can be. Three of our therapists are EMDR-trained, and it is one of the approaches we use for trauma alongside Trauma-Focused CBT and talk therapy. Nobody is required to do EMDR.
